On May 9 at approximately 5:44 p.m., Bluffton police were called to First Mennonite Church. Police report a 39-year-old woman was in the church when she was confronted by an unknown man.

The man approached her and demanded she hand over her money. The woman fled toward an escape and the man did not follow her. The man is described as approximately 6 foot, lanky build, wearing a long-sleeved shirt, gloves and a mask.

Anyone with information should contact Bluffton police at 419-358-2961.

Matthew Bowden

Matthew pitched a no-hitter against Columbus Grove on May 5. The young pitcher is on the 7th grade Bluffton Diamond Sports team.

He faced 15 hitters and struck out 11 of them. Matthew is the son of Dan and Melinda Bowden.

A summer fundraiser by Bluffton Diamond Sports will provide 26 raffle drawings in June where participants could win anywhere from $25 or $50.

Here's how it works:

Raffle tickets are available at $10 each. Each ticket purchased is good for cash drawings every Monday through Saturday for the month of June, making 26 drawings. There are no drawings on Sundays. The prize value of each day is listed on each ticket. Each ticket has the ability to be a multiple winner through the entire month.

They crashed the party

Hey, do you guys have Sportsmen's Club licenses? A mother duck and her babies crashed the party at Sunday's trout derby. These birds ignored the rules and fished for whatever they could find while the derby took place.
