Arts, crafts and llamas

Saturday is a day for arts, crafts, food, ponies, music, oh, and, yes, llamas. Bluffton's 41st annual arts and crafts festival is downtown from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Editor's note: Rachel Stutzman Heiks is offering yoga classes for 4- to 6-year-olds at the Bluffton Public Library. The second night of classes will be held at 6:30 and 7 p.m. on Monday, May 14.

How did you get started doing yoga with your children? Did you begin after Ella was born? How old was she?

Bluffton's annual family-oriented spring arts and crafts show is from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, May 12, in downtown Bluffton. The 41st annual show, sponsored by the Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce, offers several family-oriented activities.

Over 60 craft and business booth displays will line Main Street Bluffton from the post office to the town hall. Craft displays range from jewelry, yard art, paintings, sand art for kids, antiques, plants and rugs.

Garage sale paradise

Yes. Everything is for sale. The Icon lists 20 garage sales going on in Bluffton this weekend. Most are in the East College Avenue area with a large neighborhood sale is underway. Click here for the entire list.

Fortman Insurance Services, Main Street, Bluffton, will host a Medicare educational seminar at the Bluffton Senior Center at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 19.

"The event will cover areas such as eligibility, products enrollment and times to apply," said Branden Fortman, Bluffton office manager. "It is just a basic overview of Medicare in general."

She and Kathy Green, a specialist in medical insurance and "Medicare-eligible" products, will both lead the seminar.

Dr. Jed Marquart and a group of students from Ohio Northern University went flying in Georgia this spring. One student in the group was Logan Kingen, a junior mechanical engineering major from Pandora.

The team of students from ONU's Smull College of Engineering, led by Marquart, professor of mechanical engineering and the team's advisor, competed in the Lockheed Martin / Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) Aero Design 2012 competition, hosted by Georgia Model Aviators.
