The Bluffton Village Council held a Regular Meeting on the 3rd floor of Bluffton Town Hall on Monday, November 8, covering the following business. (See attached packet for more details.) 

Council Reports

Finance (Dave Steiner, Phil Talavinia) reported they are requesting more detailed numbers before making decisions on upcoming appropriations.

One of the oldest architectural details on Bluffton's Main Street was pointed out by Fred Steiner on his October 5 historical tour of the downtown. It's the white column on 111 N. Main St.

Bluffton American Legion Post 382 will be active in local events marking Veterans’ Day 2021:

8:00 a.m. Bluffton High School assembly. Activity: Can you identify Bluffton veterans from photos taken during the Vietnam War? 

8:15 a.m., Bluffton Elementary School American flag folding lessons with 4th graders; flag to take home.

11 a.m., Mennonite Memorial Home. Program and distribution of American flags and quilts to any veterans who have not yet received them.

Bluffton’s Ten Thousand Villages store, 115 S Main St., is preparing for its biggest sale of the year--to be held November 12 and 13--and is celebrating the 75th anniversary of the fair trade movement. World Fair Trade sales have grown ten-fold from 2004 to 2018 ($.83 to $9.8 billion euros), but the movement's start was on the smallest of scales.

At 5:58 a.m. on Nov. 10 the Bluffton Schools announced a 2-hour day. The Senior Citizens Breakfast has been cancelled.

David Wilson Travis, 73, passed away peacefully on November 2, 2021 at his home on Douglas Lake, Michigan. 

Dave was born on November 14, 1947 in Bluffton, Ohio to Eloise (Kellogg) and Dr. Boyd Travis. He attended Bluffton schools, Culver Military Academy and graduated from Baldwin Wallace University where he played football. 

Dave served in the Air Force in Vietnam and later retired after a career as a pilot with American Airlines.
