The Bluffton University women's basketball team was rewarded for all of its work during the crazy season that was 2020-21 when the Heartland Conference blind draw saw the Beavers pull out the golden ticket, a #1 seed for the HCAC tournament. Bluffton won 12 of its first 13, sandwiching six wins on each side of a December 12 loss at Transylvania. The Beavers made their 8th straight trip to the Heartland Conference tournament with all but three of those resulting in semifinal appearances.
Margaret L. Basinger, 77, passed away November 3, 2021 at her residence. Margaret was born March 26, 1944 in Findlay to the late Wilson and Jennie (Hartman) Otto. On December 28, 1963, she married Rolland Basinger who preceded her in death on September 21, 2020.
Margaret retired from Dr. Groman Optometry in Pandora where she was an optometric assistant. She loved helping the children in vision therapy and took great pride in assisting with eyewear selection and fittings. Margaret attended Ottawa Missionary Church and enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family.
The Bluffton High School Drama Club is rehearsing the “Big Bad Musical” in preparation for performances at 7:30 p.m. on November 12 and 13 on the Bluffton Middle School stage, 116 S Jackson St.
General admission tickets will be on sale at the door for $5.00 adults, $2.00 students. Doors open at 6:30.
The cast is Jordyn Garmatter, Kiera Rieman, Daniel Creeger, Sabina Clingerman, Caitlyn Couch, Megan Gunnett, Avery Kinn, Ian Rieman, Cole Bowers, Rebecca Estell, Asa Clingerman, Ava Schleeter, Cora Koontz and Genesis Ochoa. The musical is directed by Kevin Gratz.

The thrift store is having a wreath sale: all wreaths will be half price. Other Christmas stock includes fabric, gift bags, greeting cards, wrapping paper, tinsel, knickknacks, garlands, baubles and trees.
