At their winter meeting, the Bluffton University Board of Trustees welcomed a new member; approved new housing options, scholarships and sabbaticals; and granted emeritus status to two retiring faculty members.
Several Bluffton sixth and seventh graders earned high scores on the semi-annual Noetric Learning Math Contest that took place in the fall, according to Dina Tadena, middle school math instructor.
From Bluffton John-Paul Yoder, was the seventh grade winner. He also was named to the National Honor Roll awarded to the top 10 percent of participates taking the test. More than 24,000 students from 561 schools across the U.S. participated.
Bluffton sixth grade contest co-winners were June Essinger and Sophia Kauffman.
A mom-to-mom sale is planned from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, March 9, at Ebenezer Mennonite Church, 8905 Columbus Grove Rd. Admission is free.
This event is sponsored by MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) group, which meets at Ebenezer Church.
The sale will include gently used baby and child items, such as clothing (from newborn to junior), toys, games, shoes, bedding, bottles, and maternity items (such as clothes and breast pumps). In addition, there will also be baked goods available for a donation of any amount.
Bluffton Public Library’s adult book discussion group’s focus in March is “The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society" by Mary Ann Shaffer & Annie Barrows.
The book discussion, open to the public, is at noon, Wednesday, March 6, in the library. The monthly discussion group is open to new members and registration is suggested. The group meets the first Wednesday of every month, and occasionally has the author visit via Skype.
Edwin Capulong, M.D., will join The Mercy Health – St. Rita’s Neuroscience & Rehabilitation Center, 770 W. High St., Suite 160 Lima.
Dr. Capulong received his Doctor of Medicine from St. Louis University-Philippines. He completed his residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, Pittsburgh, and completed his Fellowship in Spine Medicine at the Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland.
Dr. Capulong is certified in Pain Management by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and is accepting new patients at 419-996-5224.
Bridge Home Health & Hospice, a division of Blanchard Valley Health System, will offer a six-session training course on Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to noon. for prospective volunteers beginning on Tuesday, March 5. The training will be held in The Hub Conference Room at Birchaven Retirement Village, located at 15100 Birchaven Lane, Findlay.
