Had sabbaticals in Taiwan, India, Korea; participated in archaeological dig in Israel

Burton G. Yost, 90, died Jan. 7, 2019, at the Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton.  Burton was born March 5, 1928, in Lansdale, Pennsylvania, to William F. Yost and Alice (Gross) Yost. On Aug. 21, 1949, Burton married Elnore Rosenberger in Quakertown, Pennsylvania, and she survives.

Burton graduated from Lansdale High School in 1945. He received his BA from Bluffton College in 1949, his Master of Divinity from Mennonite Biblical Seminary in Chicago in 1953 and his MA and PhD from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee.

Bluffton first grader Easton Dunifon works on a ball exercise in gym class taught by Denny Phillips. The series of photos demostrates the various steps in the exercise that makes you touch your toes. Easton is in Ryan Dunlap's first grade.

The Bluffton University men's basketball team dropped a close one on the road to the Anderson University Ravens, 69-61, on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2019. The Beavers tried using a late surge to overcome the Ravens, but the home team did not budge. Bluffton fell to 10-3 overall and 4-2 in the Heartland Conference, while Anderson improved to 5-8 overall and 4-2 in the HCAC.

Winter birds, healthy comfort food, frosting a snowman cake and several other topics are among this winter’s Our Version of Adult Learning (OVAL) classes offered by the Bluffton Senior Citizens Association, according to Tonya Meyer, Center director. Pre-registration is requested for each program. Some have a minimal charge.

Norma Sue Ackerman, 81, of Bluffton died at 4:25 a.m., Monday, Jan. 7, 2019 at the Mennonite Memorial Home in Bluffton. She was born, May 11, 1937 to the late Christian and Mildred (Bryan) Wagler. 

Sue was a member of the English Lutheran Church in Bluffton.  She had worked at Millager's of Bluffton, Bluffton University and also volunteered for the American Cancer Society.

Survivors include Larry Ackerman of Bluffton; a son, Chris (Beth) Ackerman of Bluffton; two grandchildren, Cierra and Braeden Ackerman.

(OTTAWA) - After eight wins in eight contests, Bluffton faced their stiffest test to date as they traveled to Ottawa-Glandorf. 

The Titans proved their mettle, earning a 76-55 victory and leaving both teams with 8-1 records. Mason Soper scored 20 and Luke Denecker 18 for Bluffton.  OG was led by Ben Westrick’s 23 points.
