Wales Lamar Whitt, formerly of Bluffton and most recently of Covenant Woods Retirement Community, Columbus, Ga., died Jan. 1, 2019, at Columbus Hospice.

Wales was born on Oct. 22, 1939, in Greenup County, Kentucky, to Walter and Irene Whitt.  Graduating at 16 from South Shore High School, Wales enlisted in the United States Navy in 1956 as an aviation electronics technician. Throughout his 20-year naval career, Wales was stationed across the globe.

The Bluffton Community Assistance Program's board will meet at 7 p.m., Monday, Jan. 21, according to Ed Yeager, board president.

The meeting is in the St. John's United Church of Christ, location of the program's food pantry.

Programs at Hancock Historical Museum

The Findlay Chapter of Great Decisions will begin its second season with an introductory meeting on Sunday, Jan. 13, at 2 p.m. at the Hancock Historical Museum, W. Sandusky Street.  Anyone interested in learning more about critical issues facing America is encouraged to attend.

Great Decisions is America’s largest discussion program on world affairs.  The program involves reading the Great Decisions Briefing Book, watching a DVD and meeting in a discussion group. 

Burton Yost, 90, of Bluffton died on Jan. 7, 2019, at the Mennonite Memorial Home in Bluffton.  Arrangements are pending at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Bluffton.

Transition Bluffton says: "bring something to swap"

Transition Bluffton will host a Swap Night next week. The event is open to the public at no charge and will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 15, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the third floor meeting room of the Bluffton town hall

Bring new, unwanted items or gently used, no longer needed things to trade for something that you can use. Items for the swap will include:
• clothing
• small appliances
• tools
• books
• other miscellaneous items.

Bring items to trade between 6:30 and 7 p.m. Swapping begins at 7 p.m. Light refreshments will be provided.
