Bluffton sixth grader Xavier Diller performed on piano during Friday's Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce breakfast in the town hall. He is a student at Krysti's Music Studio. Each month one of Krysti's students performs during the breakfast portion of the chamber program.

11 a.m. program explores university senior's herbarium project

Faculty and students in the mathematical and natural sciences department at Bluffton University will explore “Bluffton, Nature and the Preserve: Past and Present” from 11 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 13, at the Bluffton University Nature Preserve’s Moyer Nature Center.

Open to the public, this event will feature a presentation by Katelyn Amstutz, a senior biology major who completed a departmental honors project of Bluffton’s herbarium.

As part of National Healthcare Decisions Day on Tuesday, April 16, from 8:30 a.m. to 1130 a.m. Mercy Health – St. Rita’s will be hosting an open house at St. Rita’s Health Resource Center. The Health Resource Center is located in the main lobby across from Starbucks. 

National Healthcare Decisions Day educates and empowers the public and healthcare providers to take part in important advance care planning. The day focuses on ensuring that the information, opportunities, and access needed to document health care decisions are available to all.

Three Bluffton University music majors, Eddie Martin, Meghan Gibson and Kasandera Knief, will perform their senior recitals this weekend. All recitals are free and open to the public, with a reception afterwards in the lobby. Recital details follow:

Eddie Martin, a music education major with a concentration in performance
studies, will present his Bluffton University senior recital at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, April 13, in Yoder Recital Hall. 

The Bluffton University baseball team kept host Olivet off the scoreboard in a 5-0 victory over the Comets on a beautiful Tuesday, April 9, 2019. Bluffton moved past the .500 mark for the first time since Florida, improving to 13-12 on the season.

Kennedy Coughlan will pursue a degree in Biology with a Zoology concentration

Kennedy Coughlan, a Bluffton High School senior, is the BHS student of the month for March.

She is a member of the National Honor Society, is on the Buccaneer yearbook staff and is an S.O.S. tutor at the elementary school.

Kennedy was captain of the BHS golf team. She has received academic awards throughout high school including best in accounting. She is a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, enjoys photography and Disney and in her spare time she likes to take care of her animals, golf, and volunteer at Challenged Champions.
