Memorial bench dedicated to Taylor Steele

On Tuesday, November 16, the Bluffton Lions Club dedicated a bench overlooking Cob Lake in memory of Taylor Steele of Bluffton. The ceremony was led by Lions President Patty Navin and included comments by Steele’s mother Tracy.

Taylor was an enthusiastic supporter of the Lions Way pathways and active in fundraising. Navin explained: “Taylor was a major force behind the scenes for the Lions Club Dare to Dream annual event. He spent countless hours sending letters and making phone calls to obtain many of the wonderful items that we auctioned at the event to raise funds for the Pathways project.”

Tracy explained that the pathway itself became an important part of Taylor’s life. He only began bike riding at age 25 and rode his bicycle to work at SumiRiko of Ohio. Taylor passed away in August 2020 at age 27.

Taylor’s immediate family, friends, the owners of Bike Crazy LLC, and members of the Lions Club attended the dedication ceremony on Jefferson St near the Cob Lake sign, where the Village of Bluffton installed the memorial bench.
