Two Bluffton University students are exploring possible future careers this summer with the help of $1,500 Schultz Discovery Grants awarded through the university.
Kayla Craig, a sophomore from Tallmadge, Ohio, majoring in psychology and social work, is spending four weeks gathering experiences in those fields at mental health agencies and other sites, primarily in the Akron area.
A Bluffton University junior from Hopedale, Ill., is serving this summer in an Orrville, Ohio, church as part of Mennonite Church USA’s Ministry Inquiry Program (MIP).
Participating in the program at Orrville Mennonite Church is Ashley Litwiller, a youth ministries and recreation major at Bluffton. Her home church is Hopedale Mennonite.
Thirty years, countless hours and more sewing and quilting projects then you can imagine. That’s an attempt to sum up Mary Koontz’s time at the Bluffton Senior Citizens Center.
Koontz will be recognized for her 30 years of service to the Center during a 2 to 4 p.m., Friday, June 21 retirement tea. The event is open to the public.
Koontz started working at the Center in May of 1983. She was hired by Betty Cookson and continued at the center working with the next two directors Rosemary Meyers and Tonya Meyers.
