Several options for youth are available this fall at BFR.

Young football players (K- grade 2) will learn fundamental skills and game play on Tuesdays (3:30PM).

Girls in grades 3-6 can learn volleyball skills on Wednesdays at 3:30PM. Basketball fundamentals will be featured on Thursdays at 3:30pm.

Ohio Northern University has scheduled several events in observance of the 10th anniversary of 9/11.

On Thursday, Sept. 8, a moment of silence will be observed at the 11 a.m. chapel service in memory of those who lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001. Rory Stauber of Bluffton, ONU's interim chaplain, has written a topic-appropriate litany that will be read responsively as a part of the service.

Bluffton Emergency Medical Services is accepting applications to join the department, according to Jan Basinger, EMS chief.

A recital Friday, Sept. 9, will feature Joseph Robinson, former principal oboe of the New York Philharmonic. Assisting him will be mezzo soprano Julia Szabo, Pamela Ashmore, piano and Jeremy Szabo, English horn.

The recital will take place in Presser Hall on the campus of Ohio Northern University, Ada. Start time is 8 p.m. and is free and open to the public.

Jenna Eshleman (Landisville, Penn./Hempfield) has been named the Heartland Conference Volleyball Player of the Week for the week ending Sept. 4, 2011. It marks the third time Eshleman has been named HCAC Player of the Week for volleyball.
