Classic film series planned this fall at public library

 

 Bluffton Public Library is offering a new fall film series.  Timeless classic films featuring Cary Grant will be shown at 1:00 p.m. on Oct. 4, Nov. 1 and Dec. 6 in the Richland Room on the library’s lower level.

All film screenings are free and open to the public.  Bottled water and snacks will be provided. Guests are also welcome to bring a lunch with them.  No advance tickets or registration is required.

Friends of the Library fall book sale Sept. 27-Oct. 1

 

The Friends of the Bluffton Public Library will holds its fall book sale from Thursday to Monday, Sept. 27 to Oct. 1. A special Friends’ member preview will be held on Thursday, Sept. 27 from 5 – 6 p.m.  Refreshments will be available during the Friends’ preview.

Book sale hours for the public are Sept. 27 from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m., Sept. 28 from 9:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m., Sept. 29 from 9:30 a.m. – 2 p.m., and Oct. 1 from 9:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. 

Fall storytime underway Sept. 10 at the public library

Fall storytime at the Bluffton Public Library will begin Monday, Sept. 10. Storytime for preschoolers age 3-5 will be held Monday evenings at 6:30 p.m. and Tuesday mornings at 10 a.m.
Themes this fall include pumpkins, pirates and pie.

Florence Duffield estate bequeaths $1.6 million to Bluffton Public Library

The Bluffton Public Library Board of Trustees announces the receipt of a $1.6 million endowment gift from the Florence R. Duffield estate.
At the Aug. 28 regular board meeting the trustees acted to establish a permanent endowment fund and accepted the bequest.
An endowment gift is one in which the original principal must be
preserved, but from which earnings can be made available for library
purposes.
Miss Duffield died on Sept. 29, 2011, at the age of 98. She retired in 1982 from a career spanning 47 years of teaching business at Bluffton High School.

Library photo exhibit displays local talent

Photography is more than just point and shoot.
Several area residents proved their photography skills this summer as winners were recently announced in Bluffton Public Library photo contest. The winning photos plus all the entries are now on display at the library.
