With the 2014 season rapidly approaching, the Bluffton men’s soccer team will rely on its experience and depth as it prepares for another exciting campaign on the pitch. A squad that includes 13 juniors and seniors, the Beavers are primed to leave it all on the field after battling through a 2013 season in which victories struggled to maintain pace with the effort.

BLUFFTON, Ohio - A trio of Bluffton University football players were recently named pre-season All-Ohio by OhioCollegeFootball.com. Senior Donovan Brown (Cincinnati/Purcell Marian) and juniors Ryan Aelker (Holgate/New Bavaria) and Austin Speice (Paulding/Wayne Trace) all garnered Second Team All-Ohio honors when the pre-season selections were announced. All three were Second Team All-HCAC honorees following the 2013 campaign.

“Evidence,” an installation of conceptual art by William Bass, will kick off the 2014-15 schedule in Bluffton University’s Grace Albrecht Gallery, located in the Sauder Visual Arts Center.

Opening August 25, the exhibit is free and open to the public through September 21. Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and 1-5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. A reception for Bass will be held from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, September 7.

Three straight wins to end the year and a new leader, Head Coach Denny Dorrel, have the Bluffton University football team excited to hit the gridiron in a few short weeks. A stunning 24-17 victory over a Franklin team that went 31-1 in the Heartland Conference the past four years followed by a fourth consecutive win over rival Defiance College capped off a 15-day stretch that saw the Beavers go from 1-6 to 4-6.
