Bluffton University

Bryan Moore was recently named the offensive coordinator at Bluffton University after a highly-successful six-year stint at Heidelberg University where he served as the special teams coordinator and wide receivers coach. He will handle the play-calling duties for an offense that returns senior wide receiver Donovan Brown who set a Bluffton single-season record with 10 touchdown grabs last season.

The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference recently announced the spring honorees of the HCAC All-Academic awards for the 2013-14 school year. Bluffton University had 14 spring athletes recognized for their efforts in the classroom.

 

The Bluffton University baseball team had six players earn All-Heartland Conference honors following the 2014 campaign, including Freshman of the Year Luke Hickey (Toledo/Whitmer), one of two Beavers selected to the First Team. Tim Webb (Delaware/Worthington Christian) joined Hickey with his First Team All-HCAC selection. Seniors David Ianiro (Highland Heights/Mayfield) and Christian Vail (Lucas) secured Second Team All-HCAC honors while junior Jake Townley (Mansfield/Madison) and senior Ben Roeschley (Graymont, Ill./Flanagan) both collected honorable mention recognition.

Jeremy Basinger, Mike Liska and Jené Sommers are participating in a cross-cultural experience in the Holy Land, May 5-22.

They and other Bluffton University students will survey the geography and archeology of the region by visiting significant biblical and historical sites and by meeting with Israeli and Palestinian people. They will walk where Jesus walked, float in the Dead Sea and eat St. Peter’s fish at the Sea of Galilee.

Isaac Schumacher, son of Tim and Janet Schumacher of Bluffton, is participating in a cross-cultural experience in Iceland, May 6-21.

He and other Bluffton students will explore the political history of Iceland, an island nation that has no standing army and does not take sides in international disputes. They will also learn about emerging energy technologies such as geothermal and hydropower. Participants will also visit Höfoi House, where a summit meeting between Ronald Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev was held in 1986.
