Senior art exhibit to open

Bluffton University art majors Megan Moreo of Spencerville, Ohio, and Charity Tripp of Delta, Ohio, will display art they have created at Bluffton during their senior exhibition, from March 10-21 in the Grace Albrecht Gallery in Sauder Visual Arts Center.

The exhibit is free and open to the public, as is a reception for the artists from 1-3 p.m. Sunday, March 16. Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and 1-5 p.m. Saturday, March 15, and Sunday, March 16.

The Bluffton University women's basketball team had a Heartland Conference semi-final berth in its sights with a 45-33 lead and 15:44 on the clock before #5 seed Manchester University turned up the defensive pressure and rallied for a 65-62 victory on Friday, Feb. 28.

Bluffton University baseball players and coaches are purposely going bald on Thursday, Feb. 27, to support children with cancer.

Having already raised more than $6,100 for the Vs. Cancer Foundation—which helps fund children’s cancer hospitals and research of potential cancer cures—the Bluffton baseball Beavers will take their support a step further on Thursday, having their heads shaved in solidarity with young cancer victims. Joining them will be Dr. Darryl Nester, a Bluffton mathematics professor whose family, including a young niece, has been touched by the disease.

Dr. Jonathan Andreas, an associate professor of economics at Bluffton University, will discuss “An Economics Blogosphere Internship” in a campus colloquium at 4 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28, in Centennial Hall’s Stutzman Lecture Hall. The talk is free and open to the public.

Weldon “Weldy” Olson displays his gold and silver Olympic hockey medals while visiting Bluffton University Feb. 19. Olson, a Findlay resident, recalled his experiences in international hockey, including as a member of the 1956 U.S. Olympic team, which won the silver medal, and the 1960 team, which claimed America’s first gold medal in Olympic hockey.
