The Bluffton University men's basketball team rode a seven-game February winning streak to a third straight berth in the Heartland Conference tournament.
The seven straight HCAC wins established a new school record and had the Beavers on the verge of their first-ever regular season championship heading into the final Saturday.
It marked the fifth time since 2011 that Head Coach Guy Neal has led Bluffton to at least 15 victories, including a school-record tying 18 in 2018-19.
Bluffton University is offering a graduate-level course on creating quality learning experiences for K-12 remote classrooms, Jan.11-Feb. 26, 2021.
“This course is timely, as many teachers are working with students remotely and those teachers who are not instructing remotely could be at any time,” said Dr. Amy Mullins, director of graduate programs in education.
“Through this course, teachers will develop a plan to organize for teaching remotely and build a repertoire of strategies for online learning.”
Last spring when the university transitioned to remote learning, Dr. Melissa Friesen, professor of theatre, was forced to stop rehearsals of Bluffton University’s annual musical. While necessary due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the result was disappointing for all involved.
“High on my list for the fall was to pick something that could go forward no matter what,” explained Friesen. “I wanted to ensure that we could provide theatre opportunities for both our students and the community.”
The Bluffton University volleyball team persevered through a fractured fall, going 5-0 thanks to a pair of wins at Manchester University on Sunday, Oct. 25.
The fall season is now complete for a Beaver squad that will tackle the Heartland Conference starting in January as part of a modified schedule that will see Bluffton play nine doubleheaders against all of its conference foes.

The Bluffton University football team took advantage of its lone opportunity to compete this fall, running to a 28-21 victory over Adrian College on a chilly Saturday, Oct. 24. Adrian slipped to 1-2 on the season, while the Beavers head into the spring with a 1-0 mark.
The plan was evident from the first snap of the game when Bluffton handed the ball to Darian Greeley (Belleville, Mich./Chippewa Valley) and he took it 11 yards for a first down.
