Stop in behind Greg's and meet our super hero

Greg’s Pharmacy is throwing a party for Bluffton’s small-town hero Owen Weaver and you are invited.

The event is from noon to 3 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 3, in the village parking lot behind Greg’s. The Weaver family will attend from noon to 1:30 p.m.

This summer marked the success of a GoFundMe drive that generated enough money to purchase a new van for the Weaver family.

It allows Owen to more easily go to doctor appointments at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, Columbus, and to local activities.

A one-day garage sale on Thursday, Aug. 10, takes place in Bluffton to benefit Deb’s Dogs of Lima according to Connie Anderson, who will hold the sale.

Deb’s Dogs is a rescue operation run by Deb Helser. It’s a non-profit army of animal rescuers in the Lima area.

Anderson said, “This is my third benefit sale. The first was a sale of all of my aunt’s airplane memorabilia, resulting in nearly $1,000 for Angels for Animals. 

It's part of the Black Swamp Bike Tours

Get ready for the next area bike ride. It’s the third of five rides all part of the Black Swamp Bike Tours this summer.

Rally Point River Ride takes place Saturday, Aug. 5, in Lima, according to  Pandora native Jared Diller of Rally Point Youth Center, Lima.

Diller describes the ride this way: “It’s designed to get you outdoors and enjoy Lima’s excellent bike path and parks.

“We have three routes for families, weekend bikers, and seasoned riders, for a challenging and beautiful ride.

For first 200 swimmers at the Bluffton pool

Riley Creek Arbor is sponsoring free pool admission for the first 200 swimmers at the Bluffton Community Swimming Pool from noon – 6 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 11.
 
"Space is limited, so get there early," said Gary Reese of the Arbor.
 
Riley Creek Arbor of Gleaner Life Insurance Society regularly supports the local community through monetary and volunteer efforts.  The Arbor consists of members from Bluffton, Lima and surrounding communities.
 

Two community meals are planned in August at the Bluffton Senior Citizens Center, 132 N. Main St.

The first is at 6 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 3, provided by the St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

The second is at 6 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 17, provided by the Shannon Service Club.3

Meals are free and open to the public. Persons wishing to make donations may bring a can of food for the Bluffton food pantry.

Total solar eclipse across the U.S. on Aug. 21
