The Bluffton Lions Club is sponsoring a pancake/sausage breakfast from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 1, at the Middle School cafeteria.
"The Lions are encouraging all ages to attend. A donation for the meal will be received at the door. This will go toward projects provided by the Lions throughout the community. We also will offer a free breakfast to student athletes who will be accompanied by an adult," Barbara Plaugher of the Lions informed The Icon.
Two American Red Cross blood drives take place in Bluffton during February.
• Thursday, Feb. 6, from noon until 6 p.m. at First Mennonite in the Fellowship Hall, located at 101 S. Jackson St.
• Friday, Feb. 14, from 11:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. at Bluffton University in the Sommer Center – Reichenbach Room.
A fundraiser for a local family will take place Saturday, Jan. 18, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at Southgate Lanes, according to Bethany Harvey.
The event titled “Striking for the Schwartz’s” is a benefit for Joel and Andrea (Orr) Schwartz. Andrea is a 2003 Bluffton High School graduate and is daughter of Denny and Ruth Orr.
Andrea’s husband, Joel, was hospitalized from Nov 21 to Dec. 23 due to an illness. Joel and Andrea have two children, Cara (7, attends Bluffton) and Conner (4).
The El Campo Mexican Restaurant, 204 N. Main St., Ada, will host this month’s Lincoln Highway Association Western Ohio Chapter meeting. The meeting is at 6 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 21.
After attendees order dinner individually from the menu, Raymond Schuck will present a program at 7 p.m., regarding early contact and conflict between colonists and Indians in North America, and how this lead to scouting for and eventually opening roads to the interior.
The Bluffton Senior Citizens Center will host a trip to Scotland this summer, according to Tonya Meyer, director.
The trip is planned during July and the theme is Treasures of Scotland.
"The tour has been organized through Country Travel Discoveries. The 10-day trip will visit cities and towns as well as the Highlands and lochs and an island," said Meyer.
