'40s Big Band sound coming to town hall Oct. 23

The Hepcat Revival Swing Band is the next performer in the Town Hall Concert Series. The performance is at 7 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 23, on the third floor.

Admission is by donation. Costumes optional.
Hepcat Revival is a 7-piece swinging, jump blues band playing toe-tapping music reminiscent of a time when cars were as big as Rhode Island and America traveled by rail.

Decked out in the full regalia of the latest fashions of the 1940s, the band should be at home in Bluffton's town hall.

BFR offers free fitness classes offered Oct. 4-9

BFR Sports & Fitness is offering all its fitness classes without fees to encourage exercisers to try out group exercise. Both new and current participants are welcome.

Class choices include All Star Workouts on Mondays and Wednesdays at 8:30 a.m., YogaFit offered on Friday mornings at BFR and Wednesday nights at the Bluffton Public Library, and water exercise classes offered at Maple Crest Senior Living facility.

Jennica Biery's Cardio Sculpt is offered at 6 p.m. on Thursday nights. The popular, Zumba Dance Fitness class will resume on Monday, Oct. 4 at 6 p.m.

Bluffton's CROP Walk Sunday, Oct. 3

Bluffton's CROP Walk is at 2 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 3. The annual event raises funds to support world hunger. This year's walk starts and ends at the Bluffton Senior Citizen Center, 132 N. Main St.

Bluffton blood drive Saturday AM at BFR

Bluffton residents are encouraged to donate blood Saturday, Sept. 25, from 7 to 11 a.m. at Bluffton Family Recreation.

"Blood and platelets from volunteer donors can be vital to the care and treatment of people with cancer," said Sharyn Whitman, CEO for the Indiana-Ohio Blood Services Region of the American Red Cross. "You can make such a difference to someone very sick through the simple act of rolling up your sleeve."

Mural dedication Sept. 25 at 10:30 a.m.

The Oscar Velasquez historic Bluffton mural will have a formal dedication at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 25, at the mural. The event is one of several fall festival activities going on in Bluffton that day.

The dedication is open to the public. Velasquez will provide musical entertainment from the1950s following the dedication.

The mural, featuring many Bluffton residents, is on the wall of Forever In Stitches.

Bluffton fall festival set Saturday, Sept.25

Bluffton's fall festival is Saturday, Sept. 25, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The festival features seven settings that attract youth, history buffs, arts and crafts devotees, fishing enthusiasts, quilters, movie-goers, and those just looking for a good time on an early fall weekend.

Most of the activities are free, with literally, something for everyone. All locations share free transportation between sites via vans and horse drawn wagons.
