Hilda E. Mumma, age 104, of Ada, passed away on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at Vancrest of Ada.
She was born on September 28, 1921, in Watkins, IA, to John and Selina (Brand) Schaad. On March 8, 1941, Hilda married Joe F. Mumma, and he preceded her in death on July 27, 1988.
Richard “Dick” Dukes, 70, went to be with Jesus on August 12, 2026, after a long and brave, nine-year battle with cancer. He was born on May 10, 1956, in Bluffton to the late Richard and Margaret “Peg” (Fox) Dukes.
Dick married Donna Kuhn Dukes and she survives. Also surviving are his sons, Derek (Cheyenne) Dukes, Drew (Laura) Dukes and a daughter, Erin Dukes; and five grandchildren, Kellen, Grayson, Kayne, Claire and Lucy.
Lois Jean (Riesen) Andreas died on August 1, 2026, in Bluffton, Ohio. She was born November 22, 1925, in Hillsboro, KS, to Adolf and Justina (Hiebert) Riesen. Lois Jean grew up on the family farm with her brother Willis, sixteen months her senior, speaking only German until she started school. Her Anabaptist faith developed at the Brudertal Mennonite Church, where her lifelong passion for peace and justice began and she was encouraged to think for herself.
Thomas "Tom" J. Basinger, 78, passed away August 11, 2026, at the Mennonite Memorial Home in Bluffton. Tom was born March 13, 1948, in Lima to the late Marc and Helen (Glancy) Basinger. On June 23, 1973, he married Sarah Steiner Basinger, who preceded him in death on December 18, 2025.
Gayla Sue Conaway, 91, passed away July 31, 2026, at Birchaven Village in Findlay. Gayla was born July 25, 1935, in Bluffton to the late Lewis and Agnes (Schaublin) Wynkoop. On May 7, 1954, she married LeRoy "Lee" Conaway, who preceded her in death on May 17, 2013.
Larry "Eddie" E. Shepler Jr., 66, passed away July 18, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his family.
Eddie was born on August 11, 1959, in Bluffton to Larry Shepler Sr. and Dorothy (Pore) Leiber who survive. On September 27, 1980, he married Beverly (Oberly) Shepler, who survives.
