Obituaries

Ruth K. Unrau, 96 of Bluffton, died June 20, 2018, at Mennonite Memorial Home in Bluffton.  Arrangements are incomplete at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Bluffton.

Thomas E. Bowman, 66 died on Monday, June 18, 2018 at 9:50 a.m. at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.

He was born on April 3, 1952, in Bluffton, Ohio to William Lloyd E. and Hazel Marie (Smith) Bowman who preceded him in death. Thomas had married Barbara Weber, and she is deceased. He later married Phyllis Morrison Strawser who also preceded him in death.

Thomas was a truck driver and attended the Riley Creek Baptist Church as a child. He was a 1970 graduate of Cory-Rawson High School.

Todd Adams French, 54, of Palmyra, Pa., and formerly of Lima, died Saturday, June 9, 2018. He was born on March 17, 1964, to Dean and Connie French at St Rita's Hospital in Lima.

He graduated from Elida High School in 1982. He attended the business program at the Ohio State University and graduated in 1987 with a bachelor’s degree in Business Management. He worked with Republic Parking Systems and was transferred to Harrisburg International Airport in 1989 as manager.

Wanda L. Heffner, 83, died June 11, 2018, at 3:45 p.m. at Mercy Health - St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima.  Wanda was born Aug. 3, 1934 in Delphos, Ohio, to the late Edward and Opal (Dunlap) Buettner.  She had been married to James Michel from 1954 until his death in 1975 and later married Roger Heffner in 1985 and he preceded her in death in 1995.

Wanda graduated from Gomer High School.  She retired from Lima State Hospital where she was a guard.  Wanda was a past member of the Leatherwood Grange in Rimer for 35 years and also was a member of the Bluffton Senior Citizens. 

He and his wife taught English to Afghan refugees in Pakistan from 1995-96.

Albert John Wakeman died June 7, 2018, in Pandora.

He was born in Binghamton, New York, Nov.12, 1925, to Howard Vermilia Wakeman and Hazel Esther Carey.

Drafted just before high school graduation in 1942, he volunteered for the Navy, learned diesel mechanic skills, and served in World War II on a PT boat until his honorable discharge in May, 1946.

He graduated from Bob Jones University,  (B.A. 1950, M.A. in theology 1952). There he taught Greek and continued his travel adventures, by teaching in Afghanistan.

Doris Jean Ruebush, 85, died June 5, 2018, at Fox Run Manor in Findlay.  Jean was born Oct. 9, 1932, in Kalida to the late Roy and Bernice (Marvin) Dunlap.  She married Richard Ruebush who preceded her in death on July 6, 2016.

Jean was a graduate of Vaughnsville High School and had been a homemaker. 

Survivors include a daughter, Brenda (Michael) Howe of Pandora; and three granddaughters, Christina Leigh Howe of Pandora, Danielle Ann Diller and Amanda Jean Diller both of Bluffton.
