Obituaries

Frederick Fritchie, 90, died at 3:15 a.m. Feb. 26, 2013, at the Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton.

Services will begin at 3 p.m. Saturday at English Lutheran Church. Friends may call one hour prior to services Saturday at the church. Arrangements are incomplete at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Bluffton.

David  "Pete" L. Steiner, 75,  died  on Feb. 24, 2013, at his residence. On April 3, 1937 he was born in Bluffton to Oliver R. and Helen L. Mumma Steiner, who proceeded him in death. On July 29, 1956, he married Nancy S. Andrews  who survives in Bluffton.

Pete was a 1955 graduate of the Bluffton High School. He had worked for 37 years at the Lima Ford Engine Plant and retired in 1995 at the age of 57. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Bluffton.

John E. Hartzler, 100, died Friday, Jan. 25, 2013. He was born May 7, 1912 in Elkhart, Ind., the son of John E. and Mamie (Yoder) Hartzler. He was married on Dec. 23, 1934 to Christine J. Blosser.

John was a graduate of Bluffton High School and earned the Bachelor of Arts degree in History at the College of Wooster, and both the Master of Arts Degree in Political Science and the Ph.D. in Educational Administration at The Ohio State University.

Edith Ann (Tews) Dunbar, 87, died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013 in her home in Richland Township, Allen County, Ohio.  A journalist, author and playwright, a member of the Detroit Working Writers, she was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and was a graduate of the University of Michigan.

She was a reporter and later Women’s Editor of the Mellus Newspaper in suburban Detroit.  She was a recent resident of Bluffton, previously Northville, Michigan and earlier Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan.

Donald E. Fultz, 75, died Feb. 13, 2013 at his residence. He was born May 11, 1937 in Lima to the late Eugene V. and Rosetta (Gorham) Fultz.  On Dec. 16, 1966, he married Nancy Packer and she survives.

Mr. Fultz had been the owner/operator of Fultz Sign Company and Fulco Industries. He had also worked at Shellar Globe and Superior Coach.  He was a member of English Lutheran Church, Bluffton. He was actively involved in the Lima Beane Chorus and the Wood Shedder’s Group. He had also been a houseparent for the Allen County Children’s Home.

Marjorie J. Marquart, 89 died at 10:45 p.m. February 10, 2013 at the Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton. 

She was born August 6, 1923 in Bluffton to the late Charles F. and Fairy D. (Diefendeifer) Stratton. 

She was married to Frank Houston in June 1943 and he died in World War II in September, 1944.  On July 8, 1947 she married Paul Marquart and he died October 13, 1992.
