Here is Bluffton High School’s second quarter honor roll for the 2019-2020 school year:

Military Police Sergeant Chad R. Cupples will receive the Combat Action Badge from U.S. Rep. Jim Jordan in a ceremony at 2 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 23, at the Congressman’s office, 3121 W. Elm St., Lima.

*The Combat Action Badge (CAB) is a United States military award given to soldiers of the U.S. Army of any rank and who are not members of an infantry or special forces unit, for being "present and actively engaging or being engaged by the enemy, and performing satisfactorily in accordance with prescribed rules of engagement" at any point in time after Sept. 18, 2001.*

Seth Gladwell, a Bluffton High School senior, is the Icon's student artist of the month.

He has taken Art One, Design One, Ceramics One, Mural and Cremices Two. 

"In Ceramics Two I tried something new this year where I added strips of clay to the top of my pot that I threw on the pottery wheel and then continued to throw it larger," he said. 

"This allowed me to get it the height that I wanted it to be. This took me about two weeks to throw.

He wins a $20 gift certificate from Shirley's Gourmet Popcorn Co.

Doug Schweingruber of Bluffton is the winner of the Icon's college football bowl contest.

Of the 102 entries, he picked the most wins at 16 (out of 19 games). He wins a $20 gift certificate from Shirley's Gourmet Popcorn Co.

Ed Yeager of the Bluffton Lions Club received the Melvin Jones Fellowship award in December from the club.

It is the highest award a Lion can receive in recognition to the member's committment to humanitarian work and service to the community. It is named after Melvin Jones, the founder of Lions.

The following students from Hardin County, Bluffton, Mt. Cory and Jenera were named to the dean’s list for fall semester 2019-20 at Ohio Northern University.

To be eligible for the dean’s list, a student must attain a grade point average of 3.5 or higher and be enrolled full-time.
