On July 20, 1969, Wapakoneta native Neil Armstrong walked on the moon after riding Apollo 11 all the way into history. So when a young Bluffton resident named Jed Marquart toured NASA’s Cape Kennedy mere days before the most famous space launch of all time, it’s easy to see why it made a lasting impact.
Ron Edinger left Bluffton in the early 1960s, but Bluffton never seemed to leave him. A 1960 BHS grad, the Icon offers this 16-minute* interview with a very loyal Icon viewer who lives in Florida.
So, you attended Bluffton High School?
I was just another face in the crowd. I played baseball and for one season, football.

Bluffton has been visited by some famous people in its time, but the visit of John Dillinger will never be forgotten.
"Despite the record high temperatures, 10 cyclists completed the 112-mile Triplett Challenge during the 5th Annual Ride to Remember on Saturday, July 20.

Long-time Bluffton resident, Ellen Beach, will celebrate her birthday with an open house planned by her family. The event is from 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 11, at 700 Maple Crest Court, Bluffton.
This summer, three Bluffton youngsters received a head-start on their careers.
Adelyn Althaus, Kennedy Longworth and Ethan Smith joined other outstanding elementary students from across Ohio to participate in a unique academic and career-oriented development experience at Bowling Green State University.
The experience was the National Youth Leadership Forum (NYLF): Pathways to STEM.
Adelyn is the daughter of Andy and Danielle Althaus, Kennedy is the daughter of Kurt and Sabrina Longworth, and Ethan is son of Joe and Liz Smith, all of Bluffton.
