During the Beaverdam Bunch 4-H Club meeting on June 18th demonstrations were given by Ella Krupp, Roselove Jebsen, Ethan Leiber, Amber Boop, Jessica Boop, Greta Kauffman, Caitlyn Zimmerman, and Buddy Thebeau. A safety talk was also given by Nathan Hardesty about fire safety.

July 1st is the deadline to get fair entries in if anyone hasn’t gotten those in yet.

If anyone would like to donate any pop tabs for the Ronald McDonald House our next meeting will be June 25th at 7:00pm at Bluffton Middle School.

Sometimes, almost never, you find what might look like a flying shrimp in the most unlikely place...and all of this has a local connection.

Judith Greavu, Bluffton College and ONU art professor emerita, sculpted “Tide Pool with Shrimp” a bronze and fused glass creation on display in Lakeland, Fla., now through the end of the year.

Eight area students were named to the spring dean's list at Ohio Northern University.

They are from Bluffton: Jeremiah Garmatter, Molly Meyer, Brittany Sommers, Phillilp Tatarkov and Matthew Spallinger.

From Cory-Rawson: Dylan Melton, Courtney Ritter and Cassie Thomas.

To be eligible, a student must attain a grade point average of 3.5 or higher and be enrolled full-time.

Look who the Icon ran into on Saturday at Shirley's birthday party. He even offered us some of his popcorn.

Without providing any names - because that could give it away - we'll hand out a half dozen Shannon Theatre passes to Icon viewers who can ID this guy and give viewers a good sentence or two about him.

Depending upon the number of respoonses, we may hand out honorable mentions.

Bluffton in Bloom's garden of the month award to Nanci Mistovich

The Bluffton in Bloom committee presented the Garden of the Month Award for June to Nanci Mistovich. Nanci’s yard on Polo Drive includes dramatic rock displays, whimsical arrangements of found objects, and impressive sweeps of beautifully maintained plants and herbs.

Garden of the Month winners receive a signed certificate of recognition from the mayor, as well as a $25 gift certificate and hanging basket of their choice from Stratton Greenhouses.

It's summer strings with Rachael Lewis

LOT OF PHOTOS AND A VIDEO BELOW!

Rachael Lewis enjoys fiddling. Just look at her license plate.

She also enjoys fiddling with Bluffton string musicians. And, no matter the season, she’ll pick up her bow.

One of her summer traditions is playing with students, just to keep them in tune, so to speak, with their instruments.

This summer is no different. String students meet in the school on Wednesdays by age group. Then, after lunch, things get serious, or light-hearted, depending upon your musical perspective.
