Bluffton elementary students continue the May tradition

BHS students acheiving academic excellence in the classroom recognized

Bluffton High School students achieving academic excellence in the classroom this school year were recognized on May 9 at the 38th annual BHS academic awards program.

Scholarships were awarded from:

MMH employee will attend University of Cincinnati's College of Nursing this fall

A mission trip to Peru changed Karis Wilson’s mind about her choice of careers.

“I had always wanted to be a lawyer, since I love to read,” said Wilson.  “After volunteering in a medical clinic in Peru, I realized how much I like to help people and how much they rely on and appreciate health care workers. Now I’m going into nursing.”

A 2018 graduate of Bluffton High School and Mennonite Memorial Home (MMH) employee, Wilson is the winner of the Barbara Fleming Memorial Scholarship sponsored by Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio (MHCO). 

Bluffton native Daniel D. Fultz, PhD., is a 2018 Alumni Circle of Excellence inductee at a ceremony May 5 at Rhodes State College, Lima.

Fultz graduated with an associate of technical studies degree from Lima Technical College in 1993. He is a Bluffton High School graduate, Bluffton University graduate and former faculty member.

The Bluffton Junior High String Orchestra and Bluffton 6th String Orchestra performed at the Ohio Music Educators Association Junior High large group adjudicated event held at Parkway HS on May 4.

The 6th grade orchestra received a "superior" and the junior high orchestra received an "excellent."

The junior high orchestra performed "The Star of County Down," "Minuet from the Royal Fireworks Music" and "The Enchanted Forest" and received an "excellent" rating.

She plans to attend Ohio University and major in Anthropology

Ali Moser is the April Bluffton High School student of the month.

Ali is in the National Honor Society, Buccaneer, Renaissance, Latin Club, Ocean Focus,  and volunteers in the Pirate 2 Pirate mentoring program.

She played volleyball throughout high school and was named "defensive player of the year" this year and was a NWC Gold award winner.

Other special awards she has received include "English student of the year."

She plans on attending Ohio University in the fall and will major in Anthropology.
