Nine Bluffton High School art students had works accepted into this year's Kewpee Art Invitational at ArtSpace/Lima, according to Vickie Garmon, BHS art teacher.

Maria Spallinger's piece was selected “Best of Show” and Kassandra Bishop's photo won first place in photography.

The show at ArtSpace/Lima is open through April 7.

BHS art students with art in the show are, back from left, Kaly Jolliff, Kathleen Edelbrock, Kaitlyn Burkholder and Tabbi Geiger.

Stephen Johnson of Ada, an Irish  bagpiper, will perform at the March PrimeTimers. The program is at noon, Tuesday, March 6, at St. John Mennonite Church, 15988 Road 4, Pandora.

PrimeTimers is open to persons 55 and older. The meal is ham and Swiss on croissant, potato soup, tossed salad, chips and brownies. There is no cost for the event, but donations are accepted.

PrimeTimers is a ministry of St. John Mennonite Church and Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio.

Here's some more important details - and Tony Pink's secret recipe - from the Feb. 20 community chili cookoff held at the middle school.

Over $1,000 was raised for the Bluffton Community Assistance Program's food pantry.

Eleven chili entries, representing seven area churches, were tasted by over 120 participants. 

The winner of this year's People's Choice Award was Nancy Yeager, with second place winner (and last year's winner) Tony Pinks. 

Katie Breidenbach-Wooding, a Manchester University senior, was named to the fall 2017 dean's list. She is a senior from Bluffton majoring in peace studies.

A total of 421 students  at Manchester University (North Manchester, Indiana) are on the fall 2017 Dean’s List. The students achieved a 3.5 GPA or higher while enrolled in at least 12 credit hours of classes this fall.

A Bluffton High School artist’s piece was selected “Best of Show” in this year’s Kewpee Art Invitational, according to Vickie Garmon, BHS art teacher.

In addition, another BHS art student’s photograph was selected first place in photography.

The show at ArtSpace/Lima is open through April 7.

Maria Spallinger, a BHS sophomore, is the best of show artist. Her work was judged best of the 101 works accepted in the show. Eighty-eight students from 22 area high schools have works in the exhibit.

Kassandra Bishop, a BHS senior, won first place in photography.
