Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio, Bluffton, is accepting applications for the Barbara Fleming Memorial Nursing Scholarship.

The scholarship is meant to promote the career of nursing.  Therefore the scholarship money may be used toward a degree as a Licensed Practical Nurse, a degree as a Registered Nurse, or a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. The scholarship is to be used to pay school related expenses toward any of these degrees.

The scholarship offers a minimum award of $500, and will be paid directly to the vocational school or college where the student is enrolled.

"Kinnegoe Bay Cross" part of Deland Sculpture Walk

Judith Greavu, former member of the Bluffton University art faculty, recently had her work “Kinnegoe Bay Cross” installed in Deland, Florida.

Greavu also has installed “Arts Spirit” at The Deland Sculpture Walk near the Museum of Florida Art in Deland, Florida. This towering outdoor work evoked a dancing spectacle that suggested influences of Henry Moore and Louise Bourgeois.

The Blanchard River Watershed Partnership will sponsor a rain barrel decorating contest at the Findlay Village Mall during the mall car show to be held on Feb. 10-12, according to Phil Martin of the partnership.

Twenty-four rain barrels have been entered in this year’s contest. All barrels will be on display at the mall on Feb. 10 - 11. 

The public may vote for their favorite barrel starting at 5 p.m. on Feb. 10 and on Saturday.

 The three category themes are agricultural, watershed and general theme. 

Lawrence Matthews told the Bluffton Lions Club about his work with Mennonite Disaster Service in Detroit, during the club’s Jan. 17 meeting.

Traci Heinz, Bluffton, was named to the dean’s list for the Bluffton University Cohort-based Organizational Management Program (BCOMP) for the fall term.

Students with a GPA of 3.6 or higher are eligible for the dean’s list.

BCOMP is an accelerated degree-completion program that creates a dynamic, learning community of adults. Students who complete the program demonstrate commitment to personal development and professional advancement within the area of organizational management.
