The Icon caught up with Meri Skilliter of Bluffton a couple days after she accepted the superintendent position at Ada schools. Here’s a portion of our discussion that is shared from the Ada Icon.
When you were a student, what teacher excited you about making a career in education?
Skilliter: Mrs. Hetrick, my fifth grade at Woodmore elementary, encouraged me to write. She was a fantastic teacher.
Tell us about your teaching career. Where did is start and how did you make your way to Ada?
Two Bluffton couples earned special honors from the Bluffton Senior Citizens Association in December, according to Tonya Meyer, director.

The Center has several other announcements at the close of the year.

On the last day of school of 2016 lots of exciting events took place in the Bluffton elementary school.
One was a Christmas party in Kindergarten with parents, grandparents and great-grandparents invited. It wasn't just any old party. It was a gingerbread house decorating event plus the performance of a winter skit that the students had memorized.

Skilliter, McComb’s superintendent since August 2013, is a previous teacher in the Bluffton school system.
Skilliter announced her departure from McComb School District through her blog on the school website.
