Tom Downey, P.E., of Bluffton, was presented with his Professional Engineering License at a statehouse ceremony hosted by the State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers & Surveyors and the Ohio Society of Professional Engineers (OSPE).

Downey, a graduate of Bluffton High School, earned both his bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering technology and his master of science in engineering from the University of Toledo. He is employed as an engineer at Hawthorn Seving, Inc.

Prizes in three age groups

Hilty Home, 304 Hilty Dr., Pandora hosts an Easter egg hunt on its front lawn at 10 a.m., Saturday, April 15, according to Jason Cox, administrator.

Hilty Home and Hilty Preschool and Child Care sponsor the event.

Age groups for the hunt include:
• ages 3 and under
• ages 4-6
• ages 7-10

There will be prizes for each of the three age groups.

Prize tickets will be hidden in three eggs of each age group. The Easter Bunny will be present and parents are welcome to take their child's picture with him.

Musical participants awarded many superiors and excellents

Several Bluffton junior high music students participated in Solo and Ensemble Contest sponsored by OMEA.  The students are under the direction of David Sycks – band, Kara Zink – choir and Rachael E. Lewis – orchestra.The event was held at Elida High School on Saturday. Results follow:

By the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services

Hilty Home, 304 Hilty Dr., Pandora, has been awarded an overall 5-Star Quality Rating by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), according to Jason Cox, Hilty Home executive director. 

The Five-Star Quality Rating System helps consumers, their families and caregivers compare nursing homes more easily and help identify topics of questions to ask during the selection process.

In addition to the overall 5-Star honor, Hilty Home also achieved a 4-Star rating for health inspection and staffing.

Both lifelong Bluffton residents served in World War II

70 years.

The Bluffton American Legion Post 382 recently recognized two lifelong Bluffton men.

The two, Dale Huber and James Oberly, both World War II veterans, received special recognition representing 70 years of appreciation and membership from the legion, according to Dennis Morrison.

During the war, Huber, who turned 90 in December, served with a bomb removal unit in Germany. He is a retired farmer and retired owner of Specialty Foods of Ohio.
