Bluffton Lions members had updates of Our Daily Bread, soup kitchen in Lima on Feb. 7. Randy Kimpet, co-director of the program spoken to Lions.

Nine schools entered 24 decorated rain barrels in this year’s Blanchard Rilver Watershed partnership contest. The rain barrels were on display at the Findlay Village Mall Feb. 10-12. The winning barrels were:

Second Place - Hardin Northern H.S.
Third Place - Hardin Northern H.S.

She won first place in printmaking at Kewpee art show

Georgia Owen, Bluffton High School junior, is the Icon's BHS art student of the month. She has taken Art 1 and Design 1 class.

"I enjoy art because it feels good working on a project so long and when it is finished there is a sense of accomplishment," she said. "It is fun to be able to express my ability in doing what I like."

Following high school she hopes to study to become a pediatric surgeon.

Bluffton Hospital reports the following births from late January through February:

The Bluffton High School Chamber Ensemble received an "Excellent" (II) rating at the OMEA State Orchestra Adjudicated Event held at Bowling Green Middle School on Feb. 17-18.

On Friday, the BHS ensemble performed "Korean Melody" arranged by Albert Wang, "Dove's Vagary" by Shirl Jae Atwell and "Concertino in G" by Elliot Del Borgo. The orchestra is under the direction of Rachael E. Lewis and Debra Herr.

At March 13 Senior Citizen Association monthly dinner meeting

The Daughter of Hope Dance Troupe will perform during the Monday, March 13, Bluffton Senior Citizens Association monthly dinner meeting.

The meeting is a noon at the center, 132 N. Main St., Bluffton. The troupe is made up of home school youth.

Herman Hilty and Robert Bowersox will both turn 90 in March and will received their life membership award to the association.
