Lions District Governor Sheryl Burnette was a recent Bluffton Lions Club guest.

She told the Lions members that her number one goal is to have fun.  

Speaking to Lions, she stressed that Lions clubs serve in the four areas of youth, vision, hunger and environment. The international goal of Lions is to serve 100 million people in these four areas.

“So far, 93 million people have been involved. Lions should lead through service, connect through commitments and invite our neighbors to join our clubs,” the district governor said.

Did you wonder who won the United Way of Bluffton, Beaverdam and Richland Township's summer 50/50 raffle?

The short version is Richard Bucher. The longer version is the United Way.

The winner of $302 is Richard Bucher of Bluffton. He has donated his winnings back to the United Way, according to Neil Reichenbach, treasurer.

Reichenbach said, "The United Way of Bluffton, Beaverdam, and Richland Township receives designations from The United Way of Greater Lima.

Mennonite Memorial Home, 410 W. Elm St., Bluffton, invites the public to its annual “Concert on the Lawn,” Sunday, Aug. 21, at 6:30 p.m.

Musical entertainment is by the Lima Area Concert Band. 

Attendees are asked to bring a lawn chair and an appetite. There will be free ice cream, popcorn and beverages along with the fellowship of family and friends.

Darrell and Kay Huber celebrated 50 years of marriage eariler this month with a pool party hosted by their daughter and family.

Darrell and the former Kay Richard were married Aug. 13, 1966, at Pleasant View Church of the Brethren by Rev. Rommie Moore.

They are parents of a daughter Megan (Michael) Coffman of Bluffton. They have two grandchildren, Kaleigh and Ezekiel.

Darrell is retired from Bluffton University and Kay from Wapakoneta City Schools.

A celebration for Pastor Charles Warren's 95th birthday includes an open house at Crossroads Ministry Center at Ebenezer Mennonite Church, 8905 Columbus Grove Road, Bluffton.

The event includes an open house cake and ice cream reception at 6:30 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 4. The event is open to the public.
