Those are thoughts from Sierra Ribley, the Icon's first high school artist of the month. Our feature will focus on Bluffton High School artists, their works and their ideas about art.
Sierra is a senior at BHS. Her art classes have inclulded Art I, Design I, Ceramics I, Ceramics II and Art seminar. She is undecided about college.
The work she holds is a self portrait. She painted it with acrylic on canvas.
Vickie Garmon is the Bluffton High School art teacher.
Longtime Bluffton resident, Don Schweingruber, was honored earlier this month by Thiel College, where he graduated in 1963.
Posthumously, he was name recipient of The Thiel College Distinguished Alumni Award. It is presented to a Thiel alum nominated by fellow alumni and approved for recognition by the Alumni Association Board of Directors for outstanding contributions to the person's profession. Thiel is located in Greenville, Pa.
A volunteer Bible study leader is needed for Willow Ridge campus of Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio.
Erin Schroeder said, "We are in need of a Bible study leader for our Frieda House on Thursday mornings or late afternoons. The study can be in depth or as light as the volunteer desires. Also, we provide hymn books if volunteers would like to use them."

Hydrangeas is the topic of the October meeting of Gardeners of the Bluffton Pandora Area. The meeting, open to the public is at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 4, at in the lower level of the Bluffton Public Library.
Allen County Master Gardener Tim Staley will make the presentation.

This week is Ada's turn to share its homecoming senior members with Bluffton Icon viewers. One senior member has a Bluffton connection, as Eli Garmon is son of BHS art teacher Vickie Garmon.
