Twenty area pastors and 58  parishioners, who reside at Maple Crest, gathered for a banquet on Oct. 16.

“This annual banquet is provided to honor the ministries of area pastors who visit and minister to their parishioners not only in the church, but in whatever places their parishioners call home,” according to Doug Luginbill, Director of Church Relations. 

The Allen County Visionaries presented the prestigious Visionary of the Year Awards at their annual dinner Thursday night.  These awards are given to members of the Visionaries and members of the community who have worked to promote economic development and the betterment of our community.  All proceeds from the dinner go to fund economic development efforts in Allen County.

The Visionary of the Year Award was Jim Reber.  Reber is President/CEO of Health Innovations Ohio.  He retired as President/CEO of St. Rita's Health Partners in 2012 after 24 years with the hospital. 

Champions have been crowned in the TV-44 Whiz Quiz Tournament with Van Wert and St. Marys claiming top title in each respective tournament bracket. The annual televised event included 30 high school quiz teams, divided evenly  into two different brackets, each bracket with three days of competition until crowning a champion.

Members of the Bluffton High School graduating class of 1949 recently got together for a 65th class reunion.

During the last week of September Bluffton Lions Club members screened 235 local children, with parental consent, using the Sure Sight auto refractor. 

A vision screening takes place to separate those with and without possible vision problems. Vision screening results may indicate a potential need for further assessment.

The Findlay Light Opera Company will end its 2014 season with an upcycled production of Gilbert & Sullivan’s "Patience."

And, two members of the cast are Bluffton residents, Bob and Sheryl Schirmer. Sheryl is featured as Ella, one of the numerous ladies who has fallen for Bunthorne. Bob is featured as the coach of the football team who is tired of dumb luck being the key to his success, and is ready to switch his game plan to win on his own merit.
