The winner of Week 4 of The Icon Football Contest is Adelyn Althaus. Adelyn and David Glick both correctly picked 14 games this week. They both predicted the same tie-breakers as well. Adelyn was declared the winner because her picks were entered first.

Spain was the theme of the 5th annual International Party held recently at Maple Crest, Bluffton. It featured Sally Reeder speaking about the “adventures and mis-adventures” of her family’s life in Spain during the summer of 1970. 

At that time, Reeder was working on a master’s degree in Spanish with classes taught by Spanish professors in the city of Madrid while her husband, Dick, played “Mr. Mom” to their four children (ranging in age from 7-16). 

Dennis E. Kimmet, owner/broker of Kimmet Realty, LLC, Pandora, returned recently from St. Louis. Mo., having successfully completed a course in personal property appraisal at the Certified Appraisers Guild of America.

Kimmet was among many persons from the United States and Canada who completed the course.

Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio (MHCO), Bluffton, was selected as the winner of the “Excellence in Service (Best Practices)” award, presented at a luncheon on Sept. 12, during the LeadingAge Ohio annual conference in Columbus, according to Laura Voth, chief executive officer of MHCO.

Each year, LeadingAge Ohio invites nominations for various awards, which are formally presented at the annual fall conference. 

Lindsay Steiner graduated with a PhD in Rhetoric and Composition from Kent State University in Kent, Ohio, on Aug. 17.

Steiner successfully defended her dissertation, “The available means of design: A rhetorical investigation of professional multimodal composition,” in July 2013. She is currently working as Assistant Professor of Rhetoric and Professional Writing in the English Department at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.
