Lima Rotary Club awarded scholarships to 17 non-traditional students for the winter 2020 – 2021 sessions in mid-December.

These students are attending Apollo Career Center, Bluffton University, Ohio State University–Lima, Rhodes State College and the University of Northwestern Ohio.

They are pursuing degrees in Biology, Education, Social Work, Nursing, Medical Assisting, Health Care Administration, Structural Plate & Pipe Welding and CDA.

Where did you graduate from high school?
I attended school in the Northeastern Local school district and graduated in 1981. Our family moved to Bluffton in 1984 and my younger brother and sisters attended Bluffton schools.

Daniel White, a Cory-Rawson HS grad, was recently on the cast of the University of Findlay's theatre production of "It's A Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play." The play was inspired by Frank Capra's classic holiday film. 

White, in his third year at the University of Findlay, was the assistant stage manager in the production.

Previously, White performed in UF's production of Newsies, Cabaret and End of the World Improv Showcase.

While a student at Cory-Rawson he was in the cast of Annie Get Your Gun, Thoroughly Modern Milly and Seussical.

Presentation delayed due to covid-19 • Core wore many hats in Bluffton

Larry Core, former Bluffton village administrator, is the 2019 Bluffton Lions Club Citizen of the Year.

And, in this usual year of covid-19, he received his award delayed. Don Hostetler presented Core with the award last week.

Core, a life-long Bluffton resident and Bluffton High School graduate, has served in several community project and organizations, both behind the scene and as a major player.

Perhaps his greatest village accomplishment was his untiring devotion to bringing DTR (today SumiRiko Ohio) to the village.

The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) continues to showcase members of the Heartland family with the video series Heartland Kids Corner, featuring student athletes interviewed by the children of their coaches.

Episode eight features the Bluffton University volleyball team with head coach Steve Yarnell’s son Brady behind the mic.

Bluffton Lions Club poster winners are Hudson Phillips, Lauren Dearth and Brooklyn Nance

Hudson Phillips, Lauren Dearth and Brooklyn Nance are the three winners in this year's Bluffton Lions Club peace poster contest.

The three were announced in a Lions Club meeting held by Zoom on Nov. 17.  The first place winner this year is Hudson Phillips.
