The Hancock County Sheriff's Office has reported that two people, including a Bluffton man and his cousin, died from gunshot wounds on Monday evening, March 21.
The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office said Ashley M. Sayarath, 19, died from two gunshot wounds, according to a press release. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators said David Sayarath, 30, of Bluffton, and the cousin of Ashley, apparently shot Ashley at 605 Palm Drive, Liberty Township, before turning the gun on himself and dying.
Bluffton police had 394 calls for service in February, including 18 reportable offenses and 7 traffic accidents, according to Sergeant Tyler Hochstetler of the department. The February report follows:

A West Elm Street resident reported a civil family issue to police.
February 5
Police cited Timothy L. Booth, 19, Toledo for possession of marijuana following a traffic stop for a stop sign violation in the 500 block of State Route 103. The case is pending in Findlay Municipal Court.

Bluffton police were busy in 2016. The year-end monthly report of calls for service shows the Bluffton department handed over 4,000 calls.
The greatest number of police activities involved building checks. Those were over 500. Several other items were also high on the list of police activities.
Among those were 198 complaint call follow-ups, 400 vehicle investigations, 172 burglar alarms, 103 theft reports, 18 breaking and entering reports, 34 criminal damaging reports and 20 domestic reports.

During November Bluffton police handed 234 calls for seervice, had 48 traffic stops and issued 12 citations, according to the Ryan Burkholder, police chief.
Theft loss for November was $45,648 with theft recovery of $8. Two motor vehicle thefts totaled $42,940 in value. A note in the report stated that there is the potential that the vehicles may be recovered.
