Absentee voting for the Tuesday, May 7, Ohio primary election is now underway. Allen County residents may contact the county board of elections for absentee voting details, or open the absentee ballot application form attached at the bottom of this story.

Corn and soybeans, crop yields from the 2018 growing season have been released from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) National Agricultural Statistics Service. Although these crop production numbers are based on estimates, they are used for crop insurance and government reporting purposes.
Ready or not, the count-down toward the last day of school is underway. As the year wraps up, lots of events are on the elementary calendar. A summary of those activities from the April elementary newsletter follow:
CALAMITY DAYS: Bluffton schools have scheduled Thursday, April 18, and Thursday, May 30, as make-up days because the school used more than five calamity days this year. Additional days missed will be added on to the end of the school year.
Samantha Shrider of the Swiss Community Historical Society will speak during Friday's Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce breakfast, according to Paula Scott, chamber CEO. Shrider will present an update on the fundraising for and creation of a Heritage Center at the Schumacher Homestead.
The breakfast, open to the public, is in the third floor of the Bluffton town hall. The morning's schedule follows:
