A: Check out the village maintenance inventory

A 2019 village street maintenance schedule is in the works, Jesse Blackburn, village administrator, told Bluffton council members in late February.

The paving schedule was among topics of the council street and alley committee meeting on Feb. 19.

The village compiled a street maintenance inventory covering over 25 streets and alleys. The inventory shows when each street was most recently paved or had work completed. The inventory goes as far back as 2002.

A cold  February is in the weather book. Here’s some of the month’s memorable moments, according to Guy Verhoff, Pandora weather observer.

This February had 24 days with the low daily temperatures below freezing, and 12 days with the high temperature at freezing or below.

February’s high reading was 59 degrees on the 7th. The low was 3 degrees on the 1st.

Bluffton Boy Scout Troop 256 collecting for food pantry

Bluffton Boy Scout troop 256 is "Scouting for Food," on Saturday, March 9.

The scouts will collect non-perishable food items for the Bluffton Community Assistance Program's food pantry.

Persons interested in contributing may leave food items in a bag or box on front porches. Collection takes place until noon on Saturday.

Several committee meetings are on the Bluffton council schedule in March. Those follow:

March 6 – Street and alley, 5:30 p.m.
March 7 – Tree Commission
March 18 – Special council meeting,
   awarding Jefferson Street project contracts, 7 p.m.
March 25 – Public hearing, Jefferson Street improvements, 7:15 p.m.

Et Cetera Shop manager Chrissy Lugibihl shows objects made from used items

Bluffton seniors will hear about “upcycling” -no, it’s not bicycling - during the Senior Center Association’s noon, Monday, March 11, dinner meeting, according to Tonya Meyer.

Chrissy Lugibihl, Et Cetera Shop manager, will show some objects made from used items, much like the rag rugs made from old blue jeans at the Center.

This is a potluck meal and members are invited to bring a dish to share, plus a place setting.

Applications now being accepted

Vendors with non-commercial arts and crafts are invited to register for the 48th annual Bluffton Arts and Crafts Festival on Saturday, May 11. The 9 a.m.-3 p.m. street-festival style show is held on Bluffton’s charming Main Street and includes attractions for the whole family, including food, live music, and children’s activities.
