During Friday's Bluffton chamber breakfast

Dr. Jane Wood, Bluffton University president, shared a vision for the university’s future and told about graduate success during her address at Friday morning's Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce breakfast.

Focusing on three “momentum makers,” Dr. Wood shared areas involving academics, student engagement and athletics.

“Over the next 12 to 18 months we will highlight these three areas as what we believe makes us stand out,” she said, based upon a summer planning retreat with the university cabinet.

U.S. 68 and S.R. 15 southbound ramp set to close through fall 2020

A new ramp configuration on Interstate 75 will open Saturday as part of the reconstruction and widening of the interstate through Findlay and Hancock County.

A new flyover ramp, which will carry I-75 southbound traffic onto U.S. 68/state Route 15 or to Lima Avenue, will replace the existing loop ramp. The new ramp is referred to as a flyover because the ramp is carried over I-75 traffic to make the connection to U.S. 68/state Route 15 or Lima Avenue.

Bluffton Senior Citizen's Center Christmas garage sale opens on Friday, according to Tonya Meyer, center director.

The sale, at the Center, 132 N. Main St., takes place Friday Nov. 9, from 9 a.m. -5 p.m., and Saturday Nov. 10, 9 a.m.-12 p.m.

"Decorations, trees, ornaments, crafts, lights, angels, Santas, snowmen and more will be available," said Meyer. "It will include everything you need to get ready for the holidays."

Let there be light!

Will this year’s Ream Holiday Folk Art display be bright enough for you? Probably.

On Nov. 4, volunteers from the Bluffton Cultural Affairs Committee, under the direction of Jeff Stratton hung Christmas tree lights all the way to the top on five trees in the Presbyterian Church yard.

This is the first time in over a dozen years that lights go all the way to the top of the trees.

The Bluffton American Legion Post 382 will honor all veterans on Monday, Nov. 12, to commemorate Veterans Day.

The Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce thinks you should be rewarded. The chamber’s annual competition awards a $200 first place prize, $150 second place prize, $75 third place prize, and $75 Mayor’s Prize.
