ACPH has flu vaccine available at no charge for children and adults who have no insurance. There is an administration fee, but no one will be turned away for their inability to pay.

Flu shots are available at Allen County Public Health on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8 – 9 a.m., and from 3 – 4 p.m. while supplies last.

You may receive a call from the IRS - ignore it - it's not a real IRS call

An Icon viewer alerted us to a phone scam taking place locally.

It goes like this: “The Internal Revenue Service initiated a law suit in your name and a non-bailable arrest warrant issued against you.”

The caller (a robo call) instructs you to call 509-600-0931 before further legal action is taken.

The Internal Revenue Service does not make telephone calls.

The American Red Cross will hold a blood drive at First Mennonite Church, Bluffton, on Thursday, Feb. 8, from 1-6 p.m.

To schedule your blood donation appointment, call 1-800-RED-CROSS or go to redcrossblood.org, sponsor code “fmenncbl.”

Soup, sandwiches and cookies will be available for donors.

First Mennonite is located at 101 S. Jackson St., Bluffton. Donors should enter by the Jackson Street entrance directly across from Bluffton Elementary School. An elevator is located at that entrance.

Details at Friday's chamber breakfast

Eric Berdin, director of Bluffton Center for Entrepreneurs, will share information with Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce members about this year's Ropp Triplett Business Plan Competition, which will begin soon.

He is the featured speaker of the 7 a.m., Friday, Feb. 9, chamber breakfast in the Bluffton town hall. He will ask established business owners: "What would you do with an extra $1,000?"

That's the prize money going to an established Bluffton business winner in this year's BCE competition. Additional prize money will be awarded to emerging businesses.
