Newsletter lists activities for rural Pandora farm

The Quarry Farm Nature Preserve and Conservation Farm, rural Pandora, has several spring and summer activities planned. These range from wildflower walks, golden snitch walks, puppetry workshops and additional nature-related activities.

The Quarry Farm is located at 14321 Road 7L, Pandora. The newsletter is attached.

Council finance committee meetings focus on village wants and needs

Several ideas discussed in January and this month by the Bluffton council finance committee help form future village spending.

Meeting on Jan. 25, the committee of David Steiner and Phill Talavinia met with three village administrative staff members, Jack Huber, village administrator, Jesse Blackburn, assistant administrator, and Laura Ewing, fiscal officer and Richard Johnson, mayor.

Zoning hearing set for Feb. 28

The Richland Township board of zoning appeals later this month will consider a conditional use permit for the construction of a retail butcher shop in an agriculture district.

The hearing takes place at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 28, in the Richland Township house, 8435 N. Dixie Highway, according to Joshua Barhorst, township board of zoning appeals chairman.

 

Meets monthly in Bluffton Public Library

A gluten and food allergy support group is active in the community and invites persons interested in learning more about these issues to join in the group's month meetings.

The support groups meets the fourth Monday of each month (date change in May and no December meeting). Those 2018 meetings are: Feb. 26, March 26, April 23, May 21, June 25, July 23, Aug. 27, Sept. 24, Oct. 22 and Nov. 26. All meetings are in the Bluffton Public Library starting 6:30 p.m.

Future programs from the Gardeners of the Bluffton/Pandora Area

The Gardeners of the Bluffton/Pandora Area (GBPA) present a program of interest to gardeners at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 6, in the Bluffton Public Library, according to Victoria Zeits, president of the club.

The program, open to the public, is on phenology. That is the study of cyclic and seasonal natural phenomena in relation to climate and plant and animal life.

Allen County Master Gardener Volunteer Mark Simmons will explain how to use the on-line OSU Phenology Calendar to help predict when plant and insect activity occurs in our area.

Boy Scout deliver collect bags March 3; then pick up food donations March 10

Bluffton Boy Scouts from troop 256 will be Scouting for Food in Bluffton on Saturday, March 3, and Saturday, March 10

The Scouts place bags on all the house doors in Bluffton on March 3. They will pick up filled bags on the March 10. 

All food is donated to the Bluffton Food Pantry, which supports families in need within the Bluffton school district.
