March in like a lion

You could say that February went out like a lamb and March came in like a lion.

The temperature on Feb. 28 ranged from a low of 43 to a high of 61. On March 1 the area experienced snow flurries.

Here’s the February weather summary from Guy Verhoff, Pandora weather observer:

This announcement is from Ohio Department of Transportation involving Monday work on I-75:

Interstate 75 southbound, just north of Beaverdam, will be restricted to one lane through the work zone during repair of cable rail in the median on Monday, March 5.

The restriction will be in place from approximately 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Work is being performed by ODOT District 1 Roadway Sevices. Traffic control by the ODOT Allen County maintenance garage.

Just like the temperature, the daily work of the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) fluctuates between winter and spring.

“This is the time of year where we must continue to be ready for snow and ice, but also respond to potholes which can develop quickly in pavements due to freeze and thaw,” said Kirk Slusher, deputy director for the Ohio Department of Transportation District 1.

State Representative Bob Cupp (R-Lima) and State Senator Matt Huffman (R-Lima) have announced the introduction of the state's Capital Budget, which invests $2.62 billion statewide, including $500,000 in funding for projects specific to Allen County.

The legislature generally approves a capital budget every two years with the goal of funding needed improvements to public services and facilities across the state, including schools, roads and bridges, waterways and parks.

The previous month's bill was an estimate; this month's bill is the real thing

Bluffton water and sewer customers are asking questions about their February utility bills received in the mail this week.

Here’s the answer:

According to the village, the bill received this week cover approximately Jan. 16 to Feb. 15. It represents the actual reading of individual meters during that period.

The previous month’s bill, covering approximately Dec. 13 to Jan. 16 was an “estimate.” The reason for estimating that bill was due to heavy snow on the ground, which kept meter readers from obtaining proper meter readings.
