Plans for Bluffton’s biggest night of the summer are being finalized, according to Matt Oglesbee, Bluffton police department lieutenant, in charge of Bluffton’s National Night Out on Tuesday. Aug. 1.
The event includes free food, games for youth, performance by Nashville Crush Trio from 7:15 to 9:15 p.m., and Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce fireworks at 9:30 p.m.

Of course, it’s easy for us to say: the Bluffton Farmers’ Market is the best small- town farmers’ market in northwestern Ohio.

With nearly 30 vendors offering a variety of home-grown products that you can eat, drink, grow or plant, the market is a downtown Saturday morning Bluffton fixture.
Blanchard River Watershed Partnership (BRWP) received a $10,00 grant to strategic plan for Tiderishi Creek watershed in Hancock County, according to Phil Martin, BRWP coordinator.
Information about that grant and all other updates from the partnership are in the summer newsletter attached at the bottom of this story.
The Village of Bluffton is one of the government sponsors of the partnership.
James Crawfis told The Icon that it was like finding a buried treasure.
It is exactly that. On an 8 mm home movie camera, James’ dad, Gary, filmed the aftermath of the April 1965 tornado that tore through the Bluffton countryside. The reels remained in a storage box until this year when James transferred the movies to digital.
In fact, The Icon is not aware of any movies shots of the tornado’s after match. Crawfis shared the now-YouTube video with the Icon and we share it here with viewers.
