The Ohio Department of Transportation provided the Icon with Bluffton-Beaverdam road closings and road construction updates for next week They follow:
Monday, Aug. 14 - Napoleon Road on the south side of state Route 309 will be closed. Wednesday, Aug. 16 – Pevee Road on the north side of state Route 309 will be closed.
Bluffton Area Ministerial Association and the Bluffton Community Assistance Program will provide free school supplies to children on the free and reduced lunch program in the Bluffton school district.
Supplies will be available from 9 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Aug. 12, at St. John’s United Church of Christ, corner of Jackson and College.
It is suggested to call the church to enroll children at 419-358-5641.
Did you know that more than 60 tree species are spread across the Bluffton University campus?
Earlier this year Joanne Antibus compiled several tree maps of campus, which demonstrates the diversity of trees growing in the campus portion of the community.
The maps (posted as attachments to this story) are compiled by:
• Memorial and recognition trees
• Labeled gymnosperm (cone-producing) tree species
• Labeled angiosperm (flowering) tree species walk
• Angiosperm (flowering) tree species
The Main and College crosswalk improvement project continues this week. The project involves designating a crosswalk on the north side of the intersection.
That crosswalk includes a button for pedestrians to push when wanting to cross the street. The button turns on a flashing beacon informing traffic that someone is crossing the street.

The project also removes the crosswalk on the south side of the intersection.
Blanchard Valley Medical Practices, a division of Blanchard Valley Health System will be opening a new office, Bluffton Primary Care, located at 161 Garau St.
Bluffton Primary Care will be open to serve patients in the coming months following building renovations.
