The Bluffton Farmers’ Market provided the Bluffton Community Assistance Program’s food pantry with a $500 donation at the end of the year.

Greg Probst, farmers’ market director, presented the such to Jami Crawfis, food pantry director. The farmers’ market has made this donation annually for several year.

Charles Hilty of Reston, Virginia, apparently didn't want to forget his hometown zip code, so it put it on his license plate. This plate is seen in Bluffton from time to time.

Offered at Eastern Woods Outpatient Center, Findlay

Blanchard Valley Hospital’s Woman Wise Mammography will be offering free screening mammograms Friday, Feb. 10, at Woman Wise located in the EasternWoods Outpatient Center, 15900 Medical Drive South, Findlay, as part of the Hancock County Mammography Screening Initiative (HCMSI).

Appointments for free mammograms will be available from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. to those who qualify. This event is for those who are underinsured or with no health insurance who meet eligibility criteria to age, breast cancer risk and household income.

Tax assistance will again be offered this winter at the Bluffton Senior Citizens Center, 132 N. Main St., according to Tonya Meyer.

Assistance is provided by American Association of Retired People (AARP). The assistance is free for persons who qualify for assistance, but appointments are required.

Persons must bring a photo ID, Social Security card, proof of insurance or Medicare card. Also bring last year’s tax returns, SSA-1099 forms, W2 forms and any other forms received.

Assistance is provided on Tuesdays and Thursdays from Feb. 2 until April 13.

During Feb. 13 Senior Citizen dinner meeting

Bluffton Senior Citizens will holds its February dinner meeting at noon, Monday, Feb. 13, at the Center, 132 N. Main St.

Basil Meyer is the MC and those attending will play “Who Done It.” The game is the center’s version of “To Tell the Truth.”

Ron Zimmerly will receive his life membership at the meeting as he celebrates his 90th birthday in February.

Grand prize: 1 free pizza each month in 2017

There’s a new pizza shop in town and it’s throwing a free taste party on Saturday.

Marlena Ballinger of The Dough Hook, 117 N. Main St., said the downtown shop is now offering pizza.

The pizzas are already available for customers and a launch party to introduce customers new the new item takes place starting at 8 a.m., Saturday.

“Stop in from 8 to noon for free cooked samples of our Take ‘n Bake Pizzas,” she said. “We will also have plenty of frozen pizzas on hand for customers to purchase during the party.”
