Illegal drug usage, particularly heroin and other opioids, was the topic of a Bluffton Public Library Community Issues Series on Ohio’s drug epidemic.
Nearly 20 persons attended the noon program on March 9. Ryan Burkholder, Bluffton police chief, and Tyler Hostetler, Bluffton police sergeant, presented the program.
Chief Burkholder said that Bluffton police find themselves addressing these problems differently than in the past due to Ohio’s changing drug laws.
Bluffton Boy Scout Troop 256 will collect food for the Bluffton Community Assistance Program's food pantry, on Saturday, March 11, according to Dr. Darrell Groman, assistant scoutmaster.
Earlier this week yellow bags were placed on doorsteps in the village.
"Please place the yellow bags with non-perishable food items on your front porch before noon on Saturday. No glass, please," he said.

The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 1 will hold a public meeting regarding the reconstruction and widening of Interstate 75 through the city of Findlay and Hancock County. Work on the project will begin this month.
The meeting will be held Monday, March 13, in the main ballroom at the Hilton Garden Inn, 1050 Interstate Drive West, Findlay. A presentation will begin at 5:30 p.m. with time given to questions following.
Bluffton council's streets, alley, lights and sidewalk committee listed anticipated paving projects for 2017 in the village - including projects not completed in 2016 - during the Feb. 27 council meeting.
Projects from 2016 not yet completed total $93,669. Projects on the 2017 schedule are estimated at $268,156.

As bicycling becomes more and more synonymous with Bluffton, here’s another connection talking up biking in our community.
The Allen County Bike and Pedestrian Pathway Guide, a full-color promotional piece, features Bluffton on one of its panels.
Bluffton’s feature panel includes a map of the village with bike paths, shared use paths and unpaved paths marked.
A brief description of the village states that Bluffton has over 9 miles of paved pathways, crushed aggregate, mulched and natural trails, plus several additional features.
