United Way of Bluffton, Beaverdam and Richland Township is selling 50/50 raffle tickets this spring and summer.

The raffle winner will be announced at the close of the Bluffton Community Olympics held at Bluffton Family Recreation on Saturday, July 30.

One half of the raffle goes to the United Way and the other half goes to the raffle winner, who does not need to be present at the drawing.

Bluffton recycling and trash customers were notified via post card last week about changes in Bluffton collection days by Republic Services, the village contractor.

The card, however explained pick up days referring to “north” of Main Street and “south” of Main Street.

Translation: “North” of Main means “west” of Main. “South” of Main means “east” of Main.

With that translation, beginning the week of June 6:
• Collection day for all residents east of Main is Monday.
• Collection day for all residents west of Main is Wednesday.

A tradition, which dates back more than 150 years, continues to bring veterans and families together in Bluffton. The tradition: decorating the graves of America’s war veterans, known now as Memorial Day.

The members of Bluffton American Legion Post #382  invite Bluffton residents to join in this year's event, Monday, May 30.

A Memorial Day parade will start from the Bluffton town hall. To be in the parade be at the town hall by 9:15 a.m. The parade will start at 9:30 a.m.

Bluffton’s 2nd annual Ride to Remember bike ride on Saturday, July 16, offers several new features, according to the planning committee.

This year’s ride begins and ends at the Bluffton Community Swimming Pool at Main and Snider Road, Bluffton.
