From the Ada Icon - That's David "Rico" Rodriguez waving from the cupola of Van's Corner at State Route 235 and Old Route 30 located north of Ada.

He's showing all Icon readers the major work that has been done on the building in recent weeks to turn the structure into a family restaurant called Cherico's.

Several historical parts of the building have been retained, such as the pine floor and cupola.

The photo shows an expanded dining area with the roofline extended on three sides for open air-dining.

Here's a field on State Route 235 just south of U.S. 30. The farmer has applied lime on the fields to raise the pH of the soil.

According to Mark Badertscher of the Hardin County Extension office: Generally, fertilizers that are applied to soils for plant nutrition lower the pH of soils over time. Therefore, ag lime is applied according to soil test recommendations to raise the pH of the soil to a range that plants will grow better.

The Village Cultural Affairs Committee needs for help putting up the Ream holiday folk art display on the Bluffton Presbyterian Church lawn.

Tree lights will be hung on Saturday, Nov. 7. The cutout displays go in the yard on Saturday, Nov. 14.

This invitation goes out to businesses, church groups, families and individuals.

Stanley Scott, Bluffton University adjunct faculty member, will moderate the Bluffton mayoral candidate forum on Wednesday, Oct. 28, according to the Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce, forum sponsor.

The forum, open to the public, originally scheduled for the Bluffton town hall, has moved to the Bluffton Middle School cafetorium to allow for a larger audience than the town hall can accommodate. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the forum starts at 7:30 p.m.
