Anglers at the 71st annual Bluffton trout derby will be aiming for “Big Andy,” the number one trout named so in honor of Andy Herrmann, longtime Bluffton Sportsmen’s Club director.
The trout derby will be held from 2-4:30 p.m. Sunday, May 3, at the Buckeye Quarry, Main St., Bluffton. The derby includes more than 200 tagged trout with prizes to be awarded. Additional prizes will be awarded to the person who catches the longest trout and the person catching the first trout limit of four.
Bluffton village spring clean-up takes place Saturday, May 16, and continues through Monday, May 25.
Dumpstsers will be located at the Spring Street recycle center during this period. Items that may not be disposed of include hazardous materials including motor oils, paint vehilcle batteries and tires.
Appliances that use Freon, such as refrigerators, will not be accepted unless these items are certified that the Freon has been legally removed and disposed of.
Sunday, June 21, the GOBA (Great Ohio Bicycle Adventure) comes to Bluffton for an overnight stay. The estimate of the total number of bikers is around 2,500. Most of these bikers will tent on the Bluffton University campus or sleep in Burcky Gym.
