It’s Bluffton High School’s 2014 homecoming week. The event includes a Friday parade and coronation of a homecoming king and queen.

Following Friday’s parade the 2014 court will be introduced during the pre-game at Harmon Field. The king and queen will be announced at that time.

Bluffton Child Development Center will hold an open house from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 23, at the Center on County Line  Road.  The open house enables parents and care givers to meet teachers at BCDC.

Also on Sept. 23 is picture day for all classrooms except kindergarten and school age students.

The drawing for a theme basket raffle is now underway. The winners will be drawn on Thursday, Sept. 25. Tickets are available at the center at one for $1 or six for $5.

The fall mixed bag fundraiser begins on Monday, Sept. 29.

The 2013-2014 Local State Report Card was officially released to the public last Friday by the Ohio Department of Education for every district in the state, and we are pleased to announce that we have scored the highest ever as a school district.  

The Bluffton Schools will hold a district-wide open house on Monday, Sept. 22.  The elementary school will be open from 6 – 7 p.m., the middle school from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m., and the high school from 7 – 8 p.m.

Several community organizations will have booths set-up in the elementary gymnasium and information will be available on ways to provide support to the school and community.

Dr. David K. Klassen, M.D., has been selected as Chief Medical Officer of United Network for Organ Sharing. UNOS matches donated organs with transplant candidates nationwide and manages the national transplant database through contract with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

“David is one of the most respected transplant professionals in the country," said OPTN/UNOS President Carl Berg, M.D. "He’s cared for many kidney transplant patients over the years. Now, he’ll contribute to the health and safety of all who need a transplant.”

BFR Sports and Fitness will host a one-day show of craft vendors and home business consultants from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, September 27, as a part of Bluffton's Fall Festival Day. There is a $1 admission fee, which will help to offset BFR's operations costs.
